How much will my live scan cost?

There are several factors that determine the cost of your live scan. If there is an Agency Billing Number listed on your Request for Live Scan Form, you will only pay our rolling fee of $22 by credit card or $20 with our cash discount. If your Agency does not have a Billing Number, the cost will depend on the indexes requested by your Agency.

If I have been live scanned in the past do I need to do another one?

Yes, each Live Scan submission completed with Livescan Express Ventura is valid only for the specific requesting agency listed on your form. It is considered a misdemeanor for any agency to share or transfer the results of your Live Scan fingerprinting to another agency.

Will I get a copy of the results of my live scan?

No. The results of your live scan are sent only to the requesting agency. You will receive a copy of the Request for Live Scan form you bring at the time of fingerprinting.

How long does it take to do a live scan?

It takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes per live scan.

What do I need to bring when I come in for my live scan?

You will need to bring your Request for Live Scan Service Form , a Valid photo ID and payment.

Where do I get the Request for Live Scan Service Form?

You will receive the required form directly from the business or agency requesting you to be Live Scanned. For licensing and certification purposes, the Request for Live Scan Service form is typically available on the governing agency’s website. For example, Security Guard applicants can obtain the form from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services website, while Notary applicants should visit the Secretary of State website. Livescan Express Ventura recommends confirming you have the correct form before your appointment.

My live scan is taking awhile, how can I check on the status?

You can go to the Department of Justice website at https://applicantstatus.doj.ca.gov . You will need to have a copy of the completed Request for Live Scan Form that you were given after fingerprinting. Your ATI number is written by the live scan operator at the bottom of your form. We recommend you write down the dates that your live scan was sent so you can follow up with your Requesting Agency. If the message says that your results are still in process, keep checking back with the website as prints are processed 24/7. This website will only give you the dates your results were sent, it will not give you any results.

What if my fingerprints were rejected?

You MUST have a letter of rejection from the Department of Justice with you when you return for a reprint at our Livescan Express Ventura CA location. We cannot reprint you without this letter. You will also need a new Request for Live Scan Service form as well as your valid photo ID. If your original fingerprinting was done with Livescan Express, there is no charge for a reprint. If your original prints were completed at another live scan location, you will only be required to pay the Rolling Fee.

How do I get a copy of my Criminal History?

You will need to complete a Live Scan for a criminal background check (Record Review). The Request for Live Scan Service Form for a Record Review is available on the Attorney General’s website athttps://oag.ca.gov/system/files/media/BCIA-8016RR.pdf.
The results of your criminal background check will be mailed to the address you provide on the form. This Live Scan criminal background check is valid only for convictions within the state of California.
